Where it started
After the gym I often had no idea what to cook — and when my partner and I had to agree on a meal together, things got complicated. That is how Swoodie (swipe + foodie) was born: at first a “Tinder for food”, where you both swipe through recipes until you hit a shared “tasty match”.
What it grew into
Simple swiping grew into a full app: almost 8,000 recipes, a meal scanner that counts calories, a planner that builds meals for several days from the recipes you liked, Chef AI that suggests a dish from what is in your fridge, a wellness zone with challenges to take on with friends or a partner, and a library for recipes saved from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and blogs.
From idea to the stores
Three months from idea to both stores: one codebase for iOS and Android, a backend with server functions, subscriptions that follow Apple's and Google's rules, getting through their review, translations into many languages, and flags that ship new features to testers first, then to everyone.
